I Want My Money to Work for Me

What if you work your whole life for money, but money never works for you? If you’re chasing money, yet not able to enjoy your life, something needs to change in your priority hierarchy ASAP. Stop listening to what everyone else wants. What lights YOU up inside? What do YOU want in your life? I’m talking about the light that shines with Zero strings or guilt attached. Did you know that security and safety can be on that list? They should be higher on your list than material wealth. Why? Because with financial security give you the permission to fully encompass yourself in the joy that comes with physical and material wealth. All your debts are paid. Your money is completely yours. Here’s a fun story: Let’s say your neighbor enjoys $799 on a fancy cheese tray. In fact, He loves his cheese tray so much that he gushes about it when someone even mentions cheese. Now this specific neighbor can afford his lovely cheese tray. All his bills are paid, he’s worked hard, lives within his means, and he chooses wisely to only indulge in things that bring him real happiness. Therefor he indulges in full guiltless enjoyment every time he eats from his cheese tray. You tried the cheese once. It was okay, but upon hearing your neighbor rave about his special cheese that he buys, you decide to buy it too. I mean you want That kind of excitement. So of course you need it too! You are behind of your electric bill this month. But you spend the money anyway. You are proud as you eat the first bite. You wait for the fulfillment to come, yet you realize the cheese was just as dull as you recalled it to be the first time. Thoughts of your electric bill come to mind… And all the sudden every ounce of the happiness around the cheese has dissipated. Now you are left with expensive cheese and bills that will be extra late. Moral of the story: Stop chasing other’s happy cheese. Focus on the necessities and hard work that will give you guilt-free enjoyment first. Then embrace whatever it is that brings you joy. Then give back to the world beyond yourself. Here’s a picture of a little something that lights me up inside

But I Love Toxic People…

One of the things I wish my younger self knew is this:

“People who hurt you don’t look or act cruel All the time.”

Even Hilter had a close relationship with his mom and his dog name’s was Blondie.

No one is ‘all bad’.
Many people who cause harm tend to be charismatic, fun friends, amazing business owners, talented experts, exciting lovers, and close family members.

Toxic and abusive personalities tend to love one thing: control.

However in order for someone to have any sense of control in your life, you have to give them access.
And this access comes can show up in many forms.
One of the most obvious forms of access is through kindness. They are kind and then the next level is trust. Following trust is the manipulation of that trust where you are manipulated into believing you owe them something in return for this kindness.

And THIS is the reason so many family members, so many employees, and so many victims accept repeated mistreatment and abuse.

Because in between the times of hurt, you get something in return.

However, the small amount of good that you get out of these relationships does NOT mean it is a healthy or safe relationship.

Stop expecting it to get ‘all the way bad’ before you leave. Because it won’t.
Bad enough, uncomfortable enough, scary on any level is enough to say good bye.

You deserve more.

What if My Purpose Isn’t to do Anything Extraordinary?

There is no such thing as a “better” purpose.

There is no such thing as a “more important” purpose.
Without the small bolts to hold the wheels,
a car would loose a wheel and skid to a stop or worse, an accident.

These metal pieces aren’t the biggest or loudest part of the car, yet they have purpose.

Stop comparing your bolts to someone’s car body.

Your purpose is uniquely yours.

It’s what you are created for and why you exist.

What do you give to this world?

Is it your creativity, your courage, your family, your love for animals, your tenderness for plants, your knowledge, your mothering, your calmness, your wildness, your fierceness?

The list could go on and on.

Your purpose
doesn’t have to be complicated.

It doesn’t have to be exotic.

It doesn’t have to be loud.

It doesn’t have to be big.

Wherever and whatever it is,
It is made for you.

You are made for it.

Embrace it.
Be proud of it.

Resist the Religious Purity Culture

Dear teenage me,
I’m sorry that you were taught your worth was in your appearance and sexuality.
I’m sorry clothes were ripped and cut up in front of you because you could expose your body.
I’m sorry you weren’t allowed to dance or join gymnastics because of the outfits.
I’m sorry that eventually the modesty culture was so ingrained in you that you were scared to wear shorts until your teens.
I’m sorry for the shock and confusion when you realized your clothes didn’t save you anyway.
I’m sorry they gave you magazines full of flawless woman to compare yourself to and were given books to show you how to do your makeup “properly” to look the most appealing.
I’m sorry for the male teacher in 9th grade who was a pervert.
I’m sorry for the sex ed teacher that taught you that you were as dirty as the triple backwashed cup he proudly displayed if you weren’t “pure”.
I’m sorry for both the times you thought you were innocently getting a ride from a male ‘friend’ and both drove you to a place where no one would hear you scream and locked the doors.
I’m sorry you were taught that if you were with a cheating partner or porn addict, you were some how responsibility.
I’m sorry for the assholes you were with who told you that you were “too thick”, “too skinny”.
Who said you “should get a boob job”, “should be bought a tummy tuck”, “should wax”, “should fix your eyebrows for”, etc.
I’m sorry sex and your body was taught as something to fear, compete with, or control.
But I want you to know,
one day you find truth.
One day you realize your body and sexuality are each just small parts of you, not your totality.
You understand that your intelligence, courage, happiness, creativity, faith, confidence, and so much more are the sum of what makes you wonderfully you.
You realize that men who lust and mistreat women are NOT your responsibility.
You understand BOUNDARIES keep you safe and you follow them without fear of what others think about you.
You stop dressing for others entirely.
You wear knee high boots with a skin tight dresses and you wear baggy pants and coat that cover every inch of you.
You enjoy the art of makeup and stop letting it define your beauty. Some days you wear a full face, other days you wear none. You feel beautiful & sexy both ways.
You realize that you were taught shame around sex.
And you see the damage and confusion it caused to you as a confused little girl who was sexually assaulted at a young age. You heal and release it.
You treat your body with love & take care of it how you see fit. Not based on others shallow wishes.
Then you go on to teach your women how to find their confidence, how to heal from the past, and how to live in freedom in their own bodies and with their sexuality despite their confusing childhood like yours.
You rise above it all

What Will They Say at Your Funeral?

When you die, what will those attending your funeral to say about you?
Or better yet, what do you WANT those attending to say about you after your death?
I hope when you hear of my death,
That you talk about my unashamed laughter and full faced smile
Or that time my arms were around you when you needed that hug
Or the random hour long phone call or voice chat we had because you needed someone
Or the long, long messages I read & replied to in love when you felt you had no one
Or the time you had a rough day and I showed up to your house with food
Or the time you had no food & groceries magically appeared
Or the time I folded your laundry just because
Or the time I laughed way too hard at your joke when no one else in the room did
Or the times I invited you until you came and overcame your social anxiety
Or the time you read my long Facebook post because you needed it and it actually made a difference.
I want people to say that even when I was scared,
I jumped in the freaking freezing water squealing;
I want them to talk about how even though darkness tried to swallow me, I fought to win and not give Satan credit…
That even though my mistakes were visible, I was usually first to apologize and acknowledge my humanity.
I want my imperfect life to give credit to hope and grace in God’s name.
And when I die, you’re invited.
I asked my husband for donuts and sparkles.
So come hungry and cute cause it’s going to be a party. Please let there be music and dancing and the good things of life.
I was asked that first question about 10 years ago and it changed the way I functioned.
Ask yourself the hard questions.
You may be surprised at the answer.
