What Will They Say at Your Funeral?

When you die, what will those attending your funeral to say about you?
Or better yet, what do you WANT those attending to say about you after your death?
I hope when you hear of my death,
That you talk about my unashamed laughter and full faced smile
Or that time my arms were around you when you needed that hug
Or the random hour long phone call or voice chat we had because you needed someone
Or the long, long messages I read & replied to in love when you felt you had no one
Or the time you had a rough day and I showed up to your house with food
Or the time you had no food & groceries magically appeared
Or the time I folded your laundry just because
Or the time I laughed way too hard at your joke when no one else in the room did
Or the times I invited you until you came and overcame your social anxiety
Or the time you read my long Facebook post because you needed it and it actually made a difference.
I want people to say that even when I was scared,
I jumped in the freaking freezing water squealing;
I want them to talk about how even though darkness tried to swallow me, I fought to win and not give Satan credit…
That even though my mistakes were visible, I was usually first to apologize and acknowledge my humanity.
I want my imperfect life to give credit to hope and grace in God’s name.
And when I die, you’re invited.
I asked my husband for donuts and sparkles.
So come hungry and cute cause it’s going to be a party. Please let there be music and dancing and the good things of life.
I was asked that first question about 10 years ago and it changed the way I functioned.
Ask yourself the hard questions.
You may be surprised at the answer.
