Everyone was exploding.
My husband was gone and today I was solo parenting with three toddlers.
I love my solo days with my girls.
We eat snacks all day, have 3 hour long dance parties and binge watch Bluey in our Pjs.
It’s the best!
But this time was not that.
Oh no, not that at all!
I had my rain boots on as I bleached the bathroom because some of the mess had not made it into that beautiful porcelain bowl.
My kids had a stomach bug.
As soon as I was done scrubbing the bathroom I heard a noise coming from the other bathroom attached to the master bedroom.
I ran in to find another disaster.
I called my husband.
“Can you please tell me I’m the best wife and mother ever?” I asked in a high pitched voice.
“You are the best everything!” He said.
“The best wife, the best mother for your girls…”
He said it all without hesitation and continued to build me up with compliments for the next minute.
I smiled.
“Thank you. That’s all I needed to hear!”
I laughed as I hung up and put my cleaning gloves back on to scrub the second bathroom.
And this is a tiny example of what it looks like to fill your spouses cup when they are feeling depleted.
